Why trust me?

Local memory.
Outsider eyes.

I was born in Kaunas, left Lithuania in my twenties, spent roughly 27 years living in the UK and came back to a country that was both completely familiar and unexpectedly new.

Lithuania Unscripted is not a travel agency pretending the country is complicated so you need to buy the solution. Most of Lithuania is remarkably easy to do yourself. That is why the practical information stays public.

I am interested in the contrast: a restored interwar apartment and a Cold War bunker; a €10 lunch and a Michelin dinner; a monastery concert and a modern sauna ritual; an old village, a new airport terminal, a lake at dusk, a city that changed while I was away.

The useful question is rarely “what are the top ten attractions?” It is “given the people I am travelling with, the time I have and the amount I want to spend, what would make this trip genuinely good?” That is the filter I want every page here to apply.

The rules

How this site earns trust.

These are editorial rules, not marketing copy. They should still be true when the site has a hundred guides.

Useful information stays free.

Routes, prices, transport, what to book, what to skip and the alternatives should not require a consultation.

No paid praise.

A business can eventually buy clearly labelled advertising. It cannot buy a better Vytas verdict.

I will tell you when you do not need me.

If a city is simple to walk yourself, the guide should say exactly that.

Value beats “cheap”.

A costly experience can be excellent value. A cheap tourist trap can be terrible value.

Online-checked is not field-checked.

Published facts and current prices can be verified online. Personal recommendations should say when they still need first-hand testing.

Paid help buys time, context or company.

Not secret information. Not artificial dependency. Just less admin, more confidence or a human beside you when that improves the day.

The optional layer

Do Lithuania yourself. Or do part of it with me.

Ask one specific question for free. If you want a personal route, I can shape one around your dates and people. If you want local company and context, we can build a day around that too.

Best fit

Couples, families and small groups who value their holiday time and want good choices rather than luxury theatre.

Not the product

No coach groups, no flag-on-a-stick performance and no pretending ordinary logistics are a state secret.
